Untitled

So yeah it took me a week to blog about last weekend and it was told in pictures. Our week was crazy. Josh wasn’t feeling well on Tuesday, so we spent the day in the clinic. Then he was suppose to go in on Wed for a procedure which was canceled last minute. I had my mom take the kids Thursday night to give Josh a break. I also stopped by a friend’s rummage sale before picking up my kids. Friday Max has speech and did a great job. Then add my work in there, Bella school, and church, so it was crazy.  We spent some time in support groups and mom’s group, which was good for my soul.

So today after all the crazy week, we decided to do something less crazy..To to the pumpkin patch.  We met up with my mom and aunt too. We let the kids do the bouncy house, slide, pony and train. We also got some pumpkins and carmel Apple. Yes that is only one apple as I’m the only one in the my family that will eat them. They are missing out

I still want to get more pumpkin pictures.. but waiting to set up my scene. we then spent some time at my mom. We got pizza and Josh did some stuff for her around the house, while I ran to visit a friends rummage sale. THe kids had fun playing.  We came home and hung around the house.

We got the kids a real bow and arrow set. Max already took a shot at learning it so it was time for bella. She did pretty good. I can’t wait for my bow to get here. Walmart had the one I wanted but too pricey. Josh managed to “robin hood” is arrows. Not to happy about it since they are 6 or 7.00 arrows! But still means his aim is getting better. He hopes to be able to bow hunt for a deer this year!
Sunday we had Church, I was in the choir and the family joined me upstairs to avoid germs. Then we went home for lunch. Josh went fishing while I wanted for Tori to tell me Reed was awake to take pictures. Can’t believe he’s almost one!  It took  most of the afternoon of waiting so I worked on little projects in the house. The kids played outside. Once Reed was awake, we went to Korth park. The kids played while I got to play with my camera. We got some great shots, but I have to wait to post. Mom’s request. Smile By the evening Josh wasn’t feeling great, so not too much happened.

Update/catch up

From my last post you know its been crazy, but that’s life, right? So here’s kind of an mini update about all of us.

Mom’s group started up for me and Max. It’s a great group of moms that meets at school for bible book study and support. Just a great time. naturally I have to miss the 2nd week due to work.  I”ve also been working more, starting work three days a week at 1130am. While it’s fun to be with the kids, it’s leading to some long days and shorter nights it seems. I’m feeling a bit better about things as a bunch of loose ends from last year are finally fixed. I am still excited to see what will happen this year. Max did come with me one day and that was more of a struggle then I thought it would be. I do enjoy when Bella can stay with me for a while and catch up with her.

Josh is doing ok, maybe even good if you take out the cancer stuff. He’s been able to get some fishing in, doing some “farming “ stuff and getting some of the projects in the house done.  The cooler weather has helped out a lot, and we are eagerly awaiting for it to be cooler.

Bella is loving school. She adjusted to 2nd grade so far with no troubles. They have an online system to earn points through out the day for being behaved, helping other, staying on task, participating, ect. Whoever earns the most at the end of the week gets a prize. They also get a character to customize based on how many points they have earned. The system works great for Bella. We had one slip up on her spelling test, but now know going forward what to do. Her reading has found to be in the higher level (no surprise) but we won’t know more of how she is really doing until conferences in October. Bella also started a class via our support group. It will be interesting to see how she handles that. We haven’t told her yet that Poppy has cancer, but it’s coming, so  at least she has an outlet to express those feelings too.

That leaves us to Mr. Max. He started preschool, and is a pro at school. I get more updates on him since I work with his teacher closely. He’s doing really well, and quickly learning how school works. I did worry about him since he’s a boy of “my idea or no way” But he plays ok with the other kids and listens to the teacher. Smile He’s also been able to stay all day a couple times and does good with lunch and quiet time.  He also started speech again. I almost didn’t say anything about it , as he freaked out with his new teacher. Same place, but new teacher and he couldn’t handle it. Well I talked to this new teacher and realized that she didn’t know where Max was, and since then we have had another visit, which was his speed, and he did great!  She’s impressed with his vocabulary, but noticed he drops syllables so that’s what we have t work on.. he also can’t make the “s’ sound so I hope that will come soon too.

Kid weekend

So the two highlights of this weekend was hanging out with friends.
Saturday Max and I go together with friends who also have little kids Max’s age. There were three of us and I think the kids are slowly figuring out they are the same age. Before we got ready to leave we had the park to ourselves and the kids were having fun playing together.

I think I’ve posted about this quilt before, but it was created by a mom from an online group of moms. We all had a due date between dec 1 and Dec 12 2011. Well the babies all came at different times, but we started out as a group of like 60 and down to a group of 30ish. Three of us happen to live in the same state, and not to far from each other. We all sent in fabric to have this quilt created and it’s passed around depending on the needs of the group. It came to us when Josh’s cancer returned the 2nd time an then again a few weeks ago when things were pretty tough with being in and out of the hospital, stress of the unknown. and my little meltdowns. I wanted to be able to show it to the other girls while I had it, so we had a fun time meeting up and letting our little darlings play and see the quilt.

Then Sunday we got to hang out with the Twins and their family, along with another friend. We celebrated the twins first birthday! They are one year old on Tuesday! It was a windy day, and kind of chillier than we figured, but the kids didn’t seem to mind. I was able to get some pictures of the twins too. I feel so bad for waiting so long since the last time I took their pictures, I think it’s been like 3 or 4 months!

Sept 8th

Welcome back to school and hopefully fall. We woke up to storms and thus caused us to go back to sleep and be late.  Both Kids had to be in school so that added an extra issue.  Josh and I had an appointment we needed to be at too, so it was just a crazy morning.

Drop off went great. Max stayed for lunch and part of rest time, and had a great day. Josh and I got some shopping in without kids before I had to return to school for work.  Max stayed with Josh and Bella stayed with me. Its nice to see her at extended care and watch her play.  It turned into a later night, but we got home, ate quickly and then time it was homework and bed.

So this was all written randomly in a crazy set of mind. I could delete it,but it’s all true and all feelings that I was going through at the time.

it was a quick day it seems and most likely  our new normal. It’s hard to realize that I’m missing out on a lot of the kids stuff now that they are both in school and I’m working. But then I got to thinking about how only a month or two ago I was so worried that our time together would be too short and how I hated hospitals and doctor’s appointments.  IT made me realize that I’m bad at change. It’s change that throws me for a loop so bad.

While I was miserable through all the hospital stays and traveling back and forth to Madison, I know now that it was what we needed to do to figure out how to get Josh feeling ok to continue with treatment. It also helped us to figure out how to deal with the new side effects. We were given so many tools that we needed to make it through these side effects now. I’m already seeing things happening again like it did the last cycle and now it’s not as stressful. Work is my new stress and handling it all. I”ll admit I’m worried about missing time with my kids. but I see this is Josh chance to spend more time of them. He missed so much when we were farming. It also makes me cherish the weekends more. I”ve always been big into being a family of four. It’s rare for me to do something without the kids other then a date night with Josh. The most time I’ve had away from the kids has been when Josh is in the hospital. Do I need time away, yes, but right now it’s the last thing on my mind.

I feel confidant that we can handle this for the time, what’s to come, who knows, but at this moment we are doing the best we can and hopefully looking back that’s all we will see

Labor Day Sunday

So our day started out early. It was a rough night for sleep, so I was afraid of what would happen today. But for some reason, the kids were all for going up to Busicas. My goal was to be on the road at 930ish, but we left home at 9am. It worked out in our favor as we ended up stopping twice on the way up. We also took the more scenic route up too. The kids loved looking for “Johnny Popper” and other farm equipment.  We stopped to get some food and loved going to new stores.

We arrived at the farm as one of the first people there. Worked out great for my kids, so they could slowly adjust to all the new people. Well ok they aren’t too new anymore, but gets rough when all they people are already there and then suddenly want to talk to you.  Also my kids love the toys at busica’s. so that’s where they went and spent most of the time or they went outside. it was a bit warm so Josh wasn’t able to be outside too much.

It was like kid central. Most of Josh’s siblings were there and his cousins who have little kids. Josh was able to visit with his uncles and brothers, I hang out with the other mom’s and the kids. My kids had fun running around.  We got some pictures  and then suddenly it was time to go home. Sad smile

The ride home was interesting. Max feel asleep about 5 mins from the farm. He was beyond tired, hot and probably hungry. (we didn’t’ figure that out until later) Then about an hour in Bella had to use the bathroom so josh dropped us girls off at a gas station and drove around the block. Max unfortunately woke up when Josh picked us back up. So then we had to stop again about 30 mins later to get Josh something to drink and eat, and for max to use the bathroom and eat.  Then I ended up on the phone with Tori for the rest of the ride. We might have been together at the farm, but still didn’t have much chance to just talk.

We had a lot of fun. Bella asked why we were going up to Busica’s today, and I said it was just tradition. Too many of the family tradition have already slipped away from our families. My family has stopped getting together for all the birthdays, now they are combined with holidays, Jahnkes have pretty much given up all the holidays and the summer family camping. I know that life gets busy, trust me I did, but it’s so sad to realize our kids won’t have those same memories of being with their cousins as Josh and I did growing up.  Life is short and sometimes families don’t see eye to eye, but they are still family. As our grandparents and parents grow older it’s harder for them to get around.  I know I’m not good at always getting together, and struggle when it means I have to plan it but trying to do better.
