Weekly review: Mid January

I’m so living life again. We are finally back to a normal routine. Don’t get me wrong i still go crazy with our new normal, but nothing big or major is happening, which is good. Winter has officially arrived so we are back to staying in the house pretty much all the time. Bella goes out with Josh for tractor rides or to hang out in the barn since it’ about 40’s in there. I tend to go out during the day for little errands. Max likes to sleep in his car seat if the car is moving. Sometimes i leave Max at home for a short time with Josh and do something with just Bella. Mommy and Bella time is pretty limited these days.  We have been attempting to do more family stuff too, like going with Josh on the hunt for some farm equipment he’s looking for.  Otherwise i spend my days trying to get caught up around the house, Max might be little but he sure has added to my laundry load.

Yes there are cows outside. those are the dry cows. No I don’t like them out there, but their shelter is the trees and they choose to stand waiting to get into the yard. BTW PETA people are trying to make this happen for all our cows in the winter.

Winter anyone?

I’m slowly getting back into cloth diapering. THis diaper was custom made for Max since he’s my little bee. :) thank you Sarah!!

After a really explosive poopy diaper, Max got a bath. He really enjoyed it this time. I got smart and made sure the only water touching him was from the washcloth. Before his back/butt was getting wet and he wasn’t a fan

I got out the bumbo chair for Max. At first he wasn’t sure, but then he gave me smiles. He lasted a whole 5 mins before he was done.

24 hours

So Bella has officially worn cloth diapers for 24 hours. this is a first for me, normally i cave at night since I don’t want to deal with a wet bed since she is in the diapers from 8pm til 7am.  We didn’t have a leak until very early this morning and that’s due to the Velcro on her diaper getting caught on her jammies.

Sure i’ve changed her more often, but since i want her to learn what a dry feeling is, it’s not that big of a deal. Also she will take off her diaper for me when it’s wet. LOL

I just wish i would have started this sooner

A visit to Madison

So on Saturday, Bella and I headed to Madison to visit Duane and Diane.  I wanted to stop at a Nicki’s diapers . they were having a big sale and i stocked up on some more cloth diapers. Monday I'm going to take the plunge and do cloth all day and over night. Wish me luck!

Then we went over to Duane and Diane’s house. Bella did a million times better than the week before. She was still a bit shy around Duane at first. We are still working getting over the guy phobia that she has had for at last the last year. Diane made me a yummy cheeseburger and Bella enjoyed the carrots and peanut butter!  Bella also enjoyed all of her “toys” and the balloons that Duane had gotten.

We made it a short trip to Madison and had to leave early to help with chores. Only not helping since Bella fell asleep just after Dodgeville and as of 4:30pm was still sleeping. So yeah I feel bad that i’m not helping out. But I do have to get supper started soon.

Here’s some pictures from the day.

In case anyone is wondering, i am working on getting my chicago pictures up. We have just been busy and Bella’s been clingy so It hasn’t happened yet.

The rest of our trip

Everyone was up by 8:30am on Sunday due to Bella, well Drew and Elly got up on their own, Bella woke up Sara.  I got Everyone to eat and get dressed, before we headed downstairs to play. All of us including Bella played Rock Band. We had a great time.

We stopped playing when my mom and Aunt Dar got to Tracey’s. By the time Mom got unloaded, said hi to the kids and Dar headed back home, Tracey and Andy arrived.  IT was a crazy time when everyone was there. WE were attempting to get lunch started, catch up, keep Bella out of trouble, keep the other kids from being bored. We had a yummy lunch of Ham, Cheesy potatoes, strawberries, rolls, carrots and of course a cake. :) But it’s wasn’t a normal cake, it was a giant cookie cake! It was so yummy! Bella even enjoyed it. She tried to eat it with her spoon, but was not successful. LOL

After we eat and were stuffed, we open presents or I should say Bella opened my presents. She wasn’t having so much fun doing it, I just let her. She also passed out my presents.  :) I got a new waffle maker, veggie scrubber, yummy smelling bath and body stuff, new pancake flipper and rechargeable batteries.

Then we headed off to Sam’s club, well Tracey, Mom, Drew and I. Andy stayed back with Sara,Elly and Bella. Oh my gosh that store is HUGE. I haven’t been there in at leas 5 years and it has really changed. I managed to stock up on a ton of food! Mostly the items that we cook a lot with.  There were some other great items too, but i keep to my list and budget.

Once we got back to my sister’s it was time to load up and head towards the Watertown way.  Bella fell asleep about 5 mins after we left my sister’s so I went to Target. I needed to get a few things and so mom stayed in the car with a sleeping baby for me. I miss Target! I did mange to find a lot that i needed and fairly quickly but I wished i had more time to look around. I got Bella’s Easter basket started and Easter shoes for her!

After Target, I headed to Watertown to Drop my mom off and then Bella and I headed to Tori and Dylan’s.  WE had a good visit and Dylan and Bella got to play for a bit.  everything was great until Bella fell off a chair and bit her tongue, but i think i was more shook up than she was. We said our good byes and then it was back to my mom’s.

I dropped off Bella, so mom could feed her and went to Schuett’s drive in. Ok so now it’s a park and walk to the window, but whatever. I got there, placed my order and then 2 mins later they put up the closed sign. I was the last order of the day,,,,so happy i was able to make it. The pizza burgers and blue raspberry slushies are the best! Its the same that I always get.  SO I got our food home, and got Bella ready for bed. She only managed to have time to watch “the year without a santa clause” twice.

Once she was down, I headed off to Court’s to catch up with her. I got to hear about her really cool trip to Vegas and see the pictures.  I wish i would have had more time, but as I was thinking of getting ready to leave, i was paged home.

Monday was a lot simpler day. We woke up around 7am. Bella slept in her crib all night long!!!! Then woke up just talking. It was great.

We had breakfast and then mom decided that she would go get my coat that I left at my sister’s . I was going to wait til i see mom again to get it, but she decided to go get it. She took Bella with, so that Bella would get at least a bit of a nap for the day.  I stayed behind and cleaned up, got myself cleaned up, reorganized the car, and then relaxed in front of the open window and read “the diary of a wimpy kid”  Really good book btw.

Once they returned back, it was time for mom to go to work, and then Bella and I hung out until we got the call from Hannah to come on over.

We arrived over to Hannah’s around lunch time. The girls had quite a bit of fun together. They defiantly both know how to interact with each other. They were climb up everything, running around, crawling into the cozy coupe, playing with babies, sharing, then taking away.  It was almost like they were play “ if you can do it, i can do it better”.  I had a great time talking to Hannah. The girls might be 4 months apart, but it seems as they are getting older that difference is less and less.  The girls ate lunch together, Bella in a booster chair (first time ;( and she did great ;) ) and Ella next to her in the high chair.  We played until Hannah had to leave and John came home. Both John and I were hoping the girls tired each other out and they would both nap.

Bella and I hit up St. Vinny’s and then the car wash before heading back to mom’s. Bella did nap, matter of fact she took a two hour nap!

Once she was up, we went to Shopko, to walk around a bit before my mom got done with work. Bella enjoyed walking in the store with my mom. Ok any store she can walk in she enjoys.  Then we went to McDonald’s for supper, and even got Ice cream. Bella did good at eating her supper, so she got ice cream too.  She loved both my shamrock shake and my mom’s hot fudge sundae.  Before heading back to mom’s for hte night, we hit up the new Pick n Save. It’s huge and a bit too big. Maybe it seems big since i have a little store here in Lancaster to go too, but it’s like double the size of the old Pick N Save.

Tuesday morning was another good morning of Bella sleeping in her crib all night long!  This time Mom had to leave for work at 8am, so it was up to me and Bella to get all packed up. Bella got to watch her Santa while I did all the packing and loading. Then we headed out for Madison.

Oh i need to mention, for me anyhow, that Bella is now a master of Stairs at my mom’s house. I even left the gate down and she did really well. She knows to get on her tummy before going down.

In true Bella fashion, She fell asleep as i hit the Beltline. So I called up Diane and asked if she would come along for the two stores i wanted to visit. She was a good sport and say yes. So Diane sat in the car with a sleeping Bella while I got to run into Nicki’s diapers, a great cloth diaper store, and Achiever's, the scrapbook store i can only go to once in every blue moon. I spent a bit to much at each place, but oh well.  I got some of the cloth diaper stuff i needed and scrapbook stuff that i kind of wanted. LOL

We all went back to Diane’s where Bella got to play and get into a whole new house full of stuff! Bella knows where the phone is, her cupboard in the kitchen is and how easy it is to climb up on the fireplace.  (she also knows at my sister’s and my mom’s where all the special Bella places are) This time Bella figured out how to open the doors to the fireplace. that was a big shock to both Diane and I.  we had a yummy lunch of Pineapple, mac n cheese, green beans (for Bella) and peanut butter cookies! Bella ate pretty well too!  But after much talking and playing we decided it was time to head home, Both Bella and I missed Josh and our house.

We got home around 3, unloaded the car and then it was time to do chores. It was a great trip and it was so nice to see everyone!  Pictures to come later, i promise!

New Boots New Diaper

So this week, Bella got new boots for playing outside and a new diaper, since Mommy is now in to Cloth diapers. I can see how people can get addicted to them.  We decided to get Bella new boots since her snow boots were just not working in the mud and were hard to get clean. So we went in search of rain boots/rubber boots. I was only able to find them in size 7, she just transitioned over to size 6 shoes, so yeah they are a bit big, but my aunt Dar found size 6 for us today!!  I really want cute ones for her, but until she gets bigger feet that will have to wait.

So our week has pretty much been spend outside or inside when sleeping or eating. Wednesday Bella and I left early and went to run a bunch of errands in town before story time and then that night while Josh milked I went by myself to Platteville to buy rain boots for Bella, some random food i forgot in town early and doing a little shopping at the thrift store. I got Bella some barn boots/shoes incase she doesn't want to wear or need to where her rain boots and some toys that she can play with in the barn.

Thursday we spent all day at home. We had a log buyer come and buy our logs, so it was an early morning for josh. Bella and I went outside before her nap and after her nap. It ended up being a late night due to silo breaking but Bella took it in stride.  Friday was much the same as Thursday but we took a trip to town to get some things for josh. I let Bella wear her flip flops. She was so happy to wear them. It’s so nice to be able to go out with not all the extra layers!

Saturday we didn’t get much outside time, as we had swimming in the morning and then nap time for bella. She didn’t sleep long so we tried for another nap before caving and giving her a tractor ride and doing chores. we did have fun for that short time outside. NOt looking forward to possible rain coming in for sunday/monday. :(

adventures in cloth….

So I wanted a sewing machine to patch upu my husband’s pants, but i’ve yet to even start on them. Instead i’ve taken the jump into cloth diapers.  I’ve always loved g-diapers from before Bella was born. I really wanted to use them over pampers or huggies. Don’t get me wrong I love pampers and they have been great for us. (Huggies never worked otu well for us.) but for some reason i wanted to do something a little different.  I also know, why now. I did use my gdiapers in the beginning, but i ran into a problem, the flushable/disposable part of it is not easily available to me. Wait take that back around Bella turning a year they were finally in Babies R Us store. I did have smalls and Mediums that I would use off and on, but nothing like i”ve started in the last couple of weeks.  So of course that meant I got to buy new ones. LOL But I decided to use cloth with them instead of the disposable insert.

So a friend of mine found me a link to make your own cloth inserts. (thanks Sarah) I had everything i needed to do them and they worked great, but only having three was a slight problem. SO i need to make more. I’m already finding out what works best to make them, works well for bella and when she needs more padding or less.  IT’s kind of fun to make them and her little butt is so cute in her little g-diapers. If I'm not working full time with the next kid, I'm pretty sure they will be in cloth all the time.

I’ll admit I’m using a disposable over night as I'm not ready to deal with leaks in the middle of the night. maybe when we get to potty training i might consider it.

I’m currently awaiting for a snap press to convert the velcro of the diapers to snaps. wish me luck on that one. :)

Sunday was the first day she wore them out and about. We went to church and no leaks :) Today we wore them to playgroup and no leaks either and she was wearing them for about the normal time you would wear pampers.  My husband can even put them on her :)

here’s some cute pictures
