May 13th: The Garden

We finally were able to plant our garden. It was too cold over the weekend, but we took the risk on monday. We are still missing our carrot seeds, sweet corn and sugar snap peas.

we did a raised bed this year, and went smaller. Max loved digging in the dirt…which is compost style from where the dry cows were feed and pooped all last year..so praying it good for growing veggies

Two types of tomatoes, two types (6 plants ) of peppers, 4 lettuce plants, one pumpkin, one broccoli, one cauliflower , radishes…. more pumpkin and watermelon to come.

May 6th

You never know what Mondays will bring. Bella doesn’t have school so it seems like an extended weekend. We will really miss Mondays next school year. it was warm out so I thought, we should make Mother’s day cards. I wish I could say that I have one or even took a picture of one but I never did. I tired to use homemade finger paints, but those were a bust, so I pulled out the poster paint and didn’t let Max have too much fun. Which he wasn’t a fan of paint on his hand anyhow. Bella loved it and went to town painting.

After Max went down for his nap, Bella and I planed seeds in cups. We just did a few pumpkins and watermelons. She had fun..and it’s going to be fun to watch them grow

Pumpkin Patch

So as i thought the weather was suppose to turn colder, I thought it would be a great time to pick pumpkins, only the weather hasn’t turned colder, but warmer bring with it icky bugs.  But we braved the bugs anyhow. We also had Daddy’s help so that worked too!

In case you can’t guess we went to pick Pumpkins in our own pumpkin patch of a garden. We planted our pumpkin plants in a few places, so we had them all over the garden. WE had mini ones, that we picked a couple weeks ago, only to have the dog eat most  of them. Who knew Pepper liked pumpkin?  Our bigger pumpkins were a bit harder so we needed Daddy’s help.

We then loaded them all up in the skid steer to take them down to the house.

Then it was time to set them up. Bella had fun playing with them with me. We made a pumpkin family and did halloween pictures. But those will be in a later post ;)

Thursday fun day

Thursday started out with Bella being awake early. Worked out for me, since that meant she was easy to get ready for school.  She got dropped off with out any tears and I headed off to Platteville to go grocery shopping. I’m going to be so spoiled to be able to go without a kid for the next couple of months.  After i picked her up, we waited for Daddy to stop in the house for lunch before it was naptime for Bella.

  

After naptime we ventured outside. It wasn’t sunny and you can tell the temps were dropping, but with a coat and hat it was fun to be outside. We went and found the mini pumpkins. We also found some sweet corn and Bella ate it fresh from the garden. WE have some bigger pumpkins but we have to wait for Daddy to help us pick them!

 

Later that night, we had open house at Preschool. We got to see all the toys Bella gets to play with, meet the other students in her class and hear about some of the things they do in class. We ran into one problem, when it was time to leave, she didn’t want to go with us. She just wanted us to leave. I hope that means Tuesday she will be ok with us leaving.

Pumpkins

So this year we didn’t go to the pumpkin patch due to us having our own pumpkin patch at home! I set up a little spot for pictures and then got out the cameras to take some shots.

Peas and pool

Over the weekend we were able to have a lot of fun outside. The house is cleaned and I don’t want it to messed up, so we have been spending more time outside.  We have been walking around the farm, playing with outside toys, chasing the cats and dog, playin in the pool or just water, hanging out with the cows and calves.

One of the cool things for Bella was going up to the garden and picking peas and getting them I love being organic and knowing what is on my plants and them being safe to eat the produce from them.  Bella was able to pick and eat all on her own and was so proud of herself.

IT’s been warm enough to use the pool every day. She got a new monkey ring and loves to play with it. She also love the freedom to play in the pool then play with toys then back to the pool again.

She loves to lay on her tummy in the pool now. If i would get more water in it, she could kick her legs too.
