Today was Bella's first communion. We started the day with 9am hair appointment to get my princess all ready for the big day. She was such a pro! Also i was able to squeeze in to get my hair done. Then we headed over to the gym where the reception was going to be held. Our work crew was in full force getting things set up and ready. I had asked Tori, Nikki and Katie to take over the party planning while my life has been pretty crazy. My mom was there already with Darlene, so I left them Bella and went back home to help get the boys ready and myself ready the rest of the way.
I arrived home and Josh was pretty miserable in pain. There wasn't much that we could do though, other then try some different pain medicine. He did manage to get a shower in and dressed. While he did that I got Max ready to go. I was surprised he didn't fight me on it. We got loaded up a little later then i hoped, but worked out in the long run.
We arrived and went straight to church. I left Josh there to visit with the family that was already there and ran to the gym to drop off our coats. I was surprised to see the gym all transformed for a party.. so many details they thought of, like a place for people to leave a message for Bella, party favors, a kids corner and so much yummy food! I know i had a lot of plans in my head for the day, but no way i could have done all that on my own. I got back to church just as things were about to start.
Everyone was there on top, so the mass started right away. Bella was so lucky to have both Fr. Tom and Fr. Greg to officiate the mass. Josh, Bella and I walked in behind the priest. We had Aunt Micki do the first reading and then Bella did the responsial palms. Not too many kids get to read at their first communion. Then it came the big moment after we took the gifts up. Bella, Josh and I got to kneel on a fancy kneeler. All three of us got communion, bella for her first time. She did ok with it. Then we got the blood of Christ. Yeah this woman is not a fan of the wine, but Bella took it like a trooper as did I. She told me afterwards "it doesn't take very good" I told her she didn't have to do again until her wedding.
Afterwards we had family pictures done. It was sort like a wedding since most of the family was there, we did group shots, 4 generation shots, and family shots. We also got Josh's new wedding ring blessed. it all went really smoothly, which i was surprised about.
We then went in for food. There was a lot of food and a lot of people. I found a table to sit at and brought over a comfy chair for Josh. I think he sat in that chair for the rest of the time we were there. I made the rounds by foot and everyone else made the rounds to Josh. Bella was all over the place with everyone. I know it was her special day but I think she just loved having all of the kids to play with.
By 3 Josh was done, the pain was too much, so i loaded him up and left the kids and presents behind. I got him home and waited for Della and Tim to come be with him while i was gone. I arrived back to pretty much everything done, which was so nice. We loaded up my car and headed home. Once we there, Bella started to open her gifts. The hospice nurse came to check up on Josh, so Della took over the presents. bella got some great and thoughtful gifts. Della and Tim left to go home and I set out to get the kids to bed.
There is like 500 pictures taken on this day. Our photographer came back to get the pictures for me and then other family took some. I'm only going to post a few on here. If you want to see more check out the link to our shutterfly site.
