So our day started out early. It was a rough night for sleep, so I was afraid of what would happen today. But for some reason, the kids were all for going up to Busicas. My goal was to be on the road at 930ish, but we left home at 9am. It worked out in our favor as we ended up stopping twice on the way up. We also took the more scenic route up too. The kids loved looking for “Johnny Popper” and other farm equipment. We stopped to get some food and loved going to new stores.
We arrived at the farm as one of the first people there. Worked out great for my kids, so they could slowly adjust to all the new people. Well ok they aren’t too new anymore, but gets rough when all they people are already there and then suddenly want to talk to you. Also my kids love the toys at busica’s. so that’s where they went and spent most of the time or they went outside. it was a bit warm so Josh wasn’t able to be outside too much.
It was like kid central. Most of Josh’s siblings were there and his cousins who have little kids. Josh was able to visit with his uncles and brothers, I hang out with the other mom’s and the kids. My kids had fun running around. We got some pictures and then suddenly it was time to go home.
The ride home was interesting. Max feel asleep about 5 mins from the farm. He was beyond tired, hot and probably hungry. (we didn’t’ figure that out until later) Then about an hour in Bella had to use the bathroom so josh dropped us girls off at a gas station and drove around the block. Max unfortunately woke up when Josh picked us back up. So then we had to stop again about 30 mins later to get Josh something to drink and eat, and for max to use the bathroom and eat. Then I ended up on the phone with Tori for the rest of the ride. We might have been together at the farm, but still didn’t have much chance to just talk.
We had a lot of fun. Bella asked why we were going up to Busica’s today, and I said it was just tradition. Too many of the family tradition have already slipped away from our families. My family has stopped getting together for all the birthdays, now they are combined with holidays, Jahnkes have pretty much given up all the holidays and the summer family camping. I know that life gets busy, trust me I did, but it’s so sad to realize our kids won’t have those same memories of being with their cousins as Josh and I did growing up. Life is short and sometimes families don’t see eye to eye, but they are still family. As our grandparents and parents grow older it’s harder for them to get around. I know I’m not good at always getting together, and struggle when it means I have to plan it but trying to do better.
Look how much these two have grown up!
