Labor Day Sunday

So our day started out early. It was a rough night for sleep, so I was afraid of what would happen today. But for some reason, the kids were all for going up to Busicas. My goal was to be on the road at 930ish, but we left home at 9am. It worked out in our favor as we ended up stopping twice on the way up. We also took the more scenic route up too. The kids loved looking for “Johnny Popper” and other farm equipment.  We stopped to get some food and loved going to new stores.

We arrived at the farm as one of the first people there. Worked out great for my kids, so they could slowly adjust to all the new people. Well ok they aren’t too new anymore, but gets rough when all they people are already there and then suddenly want to talk to you.  Also my kids love the toys at busica’s. so that’s where they went and spent most of the time or they went outside. it was a bit warm so Josh wasn’t able to be outside too much.

It was like kid central. Most of Josh’s siblings were there and his cousins who have little kids. Josh was able to visit with his uncles and brothers, I hang out with the other mom’s and the kids. My kids had fun running around.  We got some pictures  and then suddenly it was time to go home. Sad smile

The ride home was interesting. Max feel asleep about 5 mins from the farm. He was beyond tired, hot and probably hungry. (we didn’t’ figure that out until later) Then about an hour in Bella had to use the bathroom so josh dropped us girls off at a gas station and drove around the block. Max unfortunately woke up when Josh picked us back up. So then we had to stop again about 30 mins later to get Josh something to drink and eat, and for max to use the bathroom and eat.  Then I ended up on the phone with Tori for the rest of the ride. We might have been together at the farm, but still didn’t have much chance to just talk.

We had a lot of fun. Bella asked why we were going up to Busica’s today, and I said it was just tradition. Too many of the family tradition have already slipped away from our families. My family has stopped getting together for all the birthdays, now they are combined with holidays, Jahnkes have pretty much given up all the holidays and the summer family camping. I know that life gets busy, trust me I did, but it’s so sad to realize our kids won’t have those same memories of being with their cousins as Josh and I did growing up.  Life is short and sometimes families don’t see eye to eye, but they are still family. As our grandparents and parents grow older it’s harder for them to get around.  I know I’m not good at always getting together, and struggle when it means I have to plan it but trying to do better.

Happy Mother’s Day

I didn’t have any expectations of this mother’s day since we had spend saturday celebrating it. we did breakfast with my mom and aunt before heading to church. Josh and I decided to check out the Church we plan to switch too for Mass. We really liked the church. So it was a good choice. We then headed to the lodge to start working. Josh wanted to get the pressure tank working and water sample taken.  Well through last minute plans, two good friends and their families came over. So when my mom arrived with the kids after max’s nap, we ended up having a cookout. The kids has a blast playing, I loved chatting with everyone. Poor Josh didn’t get much done and then a storm came up that we decided to hang out at Tori’s until it passed. good thing too so I could do a tick check and poor Max has one on him. He’s the unlucky little guy it seems.  Then we loaded back up and headed for home. It was a nice relaxing day.. and I spent it with four great mom’s.  it was also light enough for me to get a picture in front of my lilac bush. This will be the last year for that, at least until we can grow one big enough at our new house.

end of June cookout

So today we had a little cookout at our place. We invited Grandpa and Grandma Judy, Aunt Kara and Uncle Tony and Uncle Jeremy. Then to our surprise Fr. Greg was able to stop out too.

It was a wonderful day to spend outside. Max missed most of it due to his nap. We went to church first then came home to start getting the burgers cooked. Max went down around 11:30 and it was around 3 that he woke up.

We enjoyed visiting Hershey the pony, smores on the open fire, The guys fixing Jeremy’s car, Josh and his dad fixing some tractor or part.

August Birthdays

So the end of August always seems to come quickly and always is so busy!  Well It also happens to be Tracey and Drew’s birthday month. So somehow we managed to find a day that both families were free to celebrate. we also turned it into a furniture exchange trip. We finally got the day bed back to my mom’s house so that is out of the baby’s room. Then we took our kitchen table and chairs to Andy’s brother’s house and came home with my mom’s table and chairs. She had another table she wanted to use anyhow. I also loaded up josh’s truck with stuff for the rummage sale my mom is having.  Along with the cookout, cake and presents, My mom put us kids to work on different things around her house.  It was a quick trip, but a nice one..which is any of them that i don’t have to drive for.

I took very few pictures.. 3 to be exact since, as i mention, i was busy.

A visit from Fr Greg.

After our crazy weekend, we decided to add another late night. This time was to have supper and catch up with Fr. Greg. It’s been almost a year since we have seen him last, so Josh was excited to have him over. We went all American for him. Ribs and sweet corn for supper, along with chip dip, carrots and watermelon. We were hoping to eat outside since we had grilled out, but we got some sprinkles of rain that moved everything inside. Bella was a bit standoffish in the beginning but once supper was done she was all over her godfather. Josh bought out his Bow that he got for christmas and him and Greg got it mostly set up. Bella showed off her bird book and was being silly. It was a great night only wish it could be longer. Hopefully now that he’s stateside for good we will be able to hang out more

Happy 4th of July

july update 007

So our 4th of July was  a bit more laid back. In the morning we ran to town to visit Bella’s great Grandparents. Bella wasn’t really in the mood unfortunately.  I think it had just been a long few days for her already. It was a nice little visit before we headed to the grocery store for some last minute items. Naps followed and then we hit up the pool! Next up was getting ready for a cookout with the family. We invited josh’s dad and Judy, along with his siblings that are in the area.  It was a great cookout and bonfire! I hope we can do it again soon!
